On Friday, the woman posted a message on Facebook saying she feared that she would be “dead by morning.” Her friends on the site informed the police after reading the post, Sandy Police Sgt. Jon Arnold told Fox 13.
Officers then went to her home and encountered Troy Critchfield, 33. After finally being allowed to talk to the woman, the police officers discovered that she had been held captive in the house for the past four of five days. She also displayed signs of assault from the bruises on her face.
Arnold said she had been choked when she tried to leave the house, and her son’s phone had been broken, leaving her unable to call for help. She eventually managed to sneak into a closet with a laptop and post the message on the social networking site, according to a report on the TV station's website.
Critchfield was booked into Salt Lake County Jail on charges of suspicion of aggravated kidnapping, forcible sodomy, aggravated assault, domestic violence in the presence of a child, damaging a communication device, child abuse and cruelty to animals.
